Collection: Franklin and Armfeild

We provide retribution to those who have treated us unjustly during their lifetime. It is our hope that those who have perpetrated any acts of violence may never attain eternal peace.
The period between 1828 to 1836 saw the emergence of Franklin and Armfield as the foremost domestic slave trading company in the United States. In all likelihood, it was also the biggest and most influential such enterprise in American history. The founders, Isaac Franklin and John Armfield, procured thousands of enslaved individuals from Maryland and Virginia. Subsequently, they subjected them to arduous overland journeys spanning hundreds of miles, or undertook sea voyages down the Atlantic coast into the Gulf of Mexico. Finally, these hapless individuals were sold off in Louisiana and Mississippi, cementing the reputation of Franklin and Armfield in the nefarious business of human trafficking.
